American Idol Top 9 Results Recap!

Another Wednesday, another night packed with filler, action, laughs, drama, singing, and of course, promotional tie-ins! Tonight was very tense for me because I was so scared we were going to lose another lady! And as things turned out...I had nothing to worry about..at all.

The results started out with the usual over-dramatic monologue from Ryan followed by a recap of what happened last night, then Ryan said the producers told him the results were "shocking". Uh oh. The recap was followed by a lovely lip synced group performance that I paid absolutely no attention to, then on the Ford music video of the week. Blah Blah Blah. Next, Jason Derulo performed his latest hit "In My Head" then we got down to some results.

All three ladies were sent to the center of the stage and for a minute I was so sure Ryan was going to crush my spirit, my soul, and my heart and say that all three ladies were in the bottom three. Instead, he gave me a joygasm and a smile and announced they were all safe! YES! Maybe Tim will be leaving! Or Andrew! (Remember the "shocking" statement.)

After the 14th commercial break, we came back to David Archuleta singing "Imagine", it was as good as the last time he sang it on the Idol stage back in 2008. After his performance we got more results! The guys were directed by Ryan to form 2 groups on the left and right sides of the stage. Lee, Casey, and ... Tim were put together on the right, Michael, Aaron, and Andrew were put on the left. It's easy to see the shocker now, Big Mike was gonna be in the bottom three. And....yes the left side is your bottom three America.

Aaron was sent to safety first, then we got a commercial, then we got some Rihanna! I was looking forward to Rihanna, I thought she was going to sing "Rude Boy" or "Te Amo"...but no...she "debuted" her new single that I never heard of called "Rockstar 101". It was alright I guess...I think it's going to do about as well as "Russian Roulette" did but whatever, she rocked it out at least. Next was yet another commercial then finally "Dim the lights!" Who's it gonna be? Big Mike or Andrew? The choice is an obvious one, Andrew has delivered more mediocre performances than I care to reminisce about. But of course! The shocker! Big Mike is leaving the competition. Seriously? I was mad about this, Big Mike is so much better than Andrew, Tim, and even Aaron, he actually has a really velvety R&B toned voice and he sings in-tune. Why America?? WHY?! Oh but wait! The judge's save.

Big Mike got the least amount of votes and he had to sing for his life, he had the Idol contestants crying to his left and his wife was bawling like 20 feet in front of from him and he had to win over the judges to get to stay in the competition. My dilemma with this situation is that...if Mike gets saved, that means 2 people will be going home next week, which could either be wonderous or a disaster. What if Crystal and Lee get the lowest votes next week?? But then the other part of me is saying, Big Mike is a good singer, one of the best males, his wife is in tears, he has a newborn, Andrew deserved to go, save Mike! Mike sang "This Woman's Work" while the judges deliberated and I feel it was a fantastic and moving performance and it probably is what really sealed the deal on the judge's decision. They decided to save him, of course!

So to recap my recap! Lots of filler, lots of tears, Kara's discovery, Archie, Rihanna, a shocking result, a judge's save used, 2 people going home next week. How do you feel about this? I'm hoping this is all for the best and any combination of Andrew/Tim/Aaron/Katie go next week. Anyway, I'm out for the night, have a good week and be sure to come back here for any breaking Idol updates and tune in next week another 9 performances with mentor Adam Lambert!

American Idol Top 9: Bagpipes + Didgeridoos = Awesomeness

It was an interesting night on the Idol stage tonight. The Top 9 performed songs from the Lennon/McCartney songbook, yielding mixed results, but I have to say I really enjoyed watching tonight, and I loved that we got to learn a little more about the contestants...from the other contestants since there was no mentor. Overall tonight had many interesting and beautiful performances, of course there were some stinkers as usual , but overall, good show! Lets recap the performances shall we?

Aaron Kelly, “The Long and Winding Road”
Aaron did another slow, kind of boring, typical-Aaron performance. I was hoping he would do something different, something uptempo, like Kara suggested, but alas, it didn't happen. Sure, Aaron is cute and has this kinda David Archuleta vibe thing going on, but he just seems to do the same kind of performance week after week. Yawn. The last time I found him interesting was when he sang "Angie" during Rolling Stones week. I think Aaron could be bottom 3 material tomorrow night.

Katie Stevens, “Let It Be”
Next up was Katie Stevens and believe it or not...she stayed in tune! I thought she gave a beautiful performance tonight and it was the first time I didn't cringe or want to fast forward the TV. She gave us some emotion and stayed in tune and I really liked it, I'm glad too because I don't want another woman to go home yet! 3 in a row is too much, it is already a sausage fest, please just take a week off and send Tim home.

Andrew Garcia, “Can’t Buy Me Love”
Going third tonight was Andrew Garcia. Andrew really changed around this song and I thought it was kind of corny like Randy and Simon said. It was all "boppy" and kind of a mess. I did enjoy it more than all of his other big stage performances though, besides "Forever", but that isn't saying much.

Michael Lynche, “Eleanor Rigby”
Big Mike did "Eleanor Rigby" which is a song that I have always loved. It tells a haunting story. Big Mike rearranged it and I thought he did a great job making it sound contemporary, while keeping the haunting story vibe to it. He rocked it out and showed a different side tonight and I really liked it. And again, I agreed with Kara over Simon, Kara said it was contemporary and "you could hear this on the radio", while Simon said he was "confused." Wasn't anything confusing about it to me Simon, it was my favorite performance by Michael so far, he dropped the cheese, dropped the R&B crooner-ness, and he rocked it out.

Crystal Bowersox, “Come Together”
Crystal really rocked it out too! She got on stage with her trusty ole guitar this week and a special guest: a guy with a tribal looking instrument called a didgeridoo. At first I thought the didgeridoo was distracting and weird, but as Crystal sang and strummed her guitar, the two really worked well together. She showed more spirit and looks like she had fun and it was another awesome performance from Mamasox. By the way, I love how it showed the contestants call her Mamasox too!

Tim Urban, “All My Loving”
Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh UGH. I'm sick of Tim Urban, I loathe him more than Sanjaya! Sure he has a good attitude and he takes the bad critiques like a man...good for him, he is still a bad, boring singer. He sucks the soul out of everything he sings and I am just sick of him. In the video before his performance the contestants mainly talked about him smiling a lot and his wide grin, which is kind of creepy to me. I loved how Randy felt the need to judge him based on a "Tim Scale" like he's a kindergartner or something. I was appalled that Simon actually had positive feedback for him. Please go home tomorrow. Please.

Casey James, “Jealous Guy”
Casey finally shaked things up tonight and did something that didn't resemble a Karaoke bar performance. He slowed things down and got all emotional, and it kind of worked. It was an emotional performance, you could see it in his face and hear it in his voice, and it was nice to hear something new from him. However, I still think that Big Mike and Lee Dewyze have him beat, so I don't think that he will make it any further than the top 5.

Siobhan Magnus, “Across the Universe”
Siobhan also slowed things down this week and gave an emotional performance as well. I thought it was really pretty and the song really fit her. Also, she finally did not do a screeching high note at the end, which was a welcome change, and pleased the judges. I hope she can make it to the top 5 as well, but I could see her being in the bottom 3 tomorrow, I hope not though because she is interesting and quirky and I like seeing her on the show, she's someone to look forward to, like Crystal and Lee.

Lee Dewyze, “Hey Jude”
At the start of his song tonight, I thought it was kind of a mess. It was all over the place and kind of weird and I expected more...and I got more about 1 minute into the song. Towards the middle and the end of the song Lee really got into it, especially the "Na na na na" part. He got the audience singing along with him and he even lured a giant bagpipe played onto the Idol stage somehow. I thought it was unintentionally funny when the bagpipe man showed up, but Lee's performance more than made up for the weird bagpipe choice. In the pre-performance video the Idol contestants said how much of a worrier Lee is and how he is always down on himself and saying he is going to go home. Lee has that sexy rocker tone to his voice, and it sounds so radio-ready, he just needs a big self-confidence boost.

Well that's a wrap for Lennon/McCartney songbook night! What did you think? Did you overall enjoy yourself like I did? I think it was one of this season's better live shows and I hope they can keep this going into next week and the rest of the season. My predictions for the bottom 3 tomorrow night are Tim, Andrew, and Aaron, but judging on America's decisions so far this season it will probably be Tim, Katie and Siobhan and Katie will go home. I really hope that doesn't happen! Anyways, I'm out for the night, leave comments and be sure to watch Idol tomorrow for the results and to see Rihanna, Jason Derulo, and David Archuleta perform!

Sorry! PC Troubles :(

I didn't post about R&B week because my computer crashed...and I had to reformat it...and I lost everything. It took me awhile to get everything back in proper order and redownload everything I lost and upload all my data I had on my backup hard drive. So yeah, sorry for no posts! I'll start posting again regularly this week.

As for what I missed...R&B week was kind of blah, I thought Usher was a good mentor though. Tim Urban did horrible and didn't go home...again. Didi Benami did bad and she went home, making it the 3rd female in a row to go home. Wasn't this supposed to be the girl's season? Now we are left with Katie Stevens as one of the "Top 3 remaining females" ... I just shuddered. Anyways, Didi will be making many public appearances throughout the week, she recently visited the "If I Can Dream" House, you know the place Alex Lambert just moved into. Here's the video of that and be sure to check back here tomorrow for the Lennon/McCartney songbook night recap!

Idol News & Notes

I'm finally back from the beach! It was a fun trip, I probably gained 10 pounds despite walking everywhere and swimming everyday, but anyways I'm back and ready for some Idol action.

This week's theme is R&B Classics with Usher, in case you haven't heard. It could be interesting, I think Usher will be a good mentor and I'm interested in what Crystal, Siobhan, Didi, Lee, and even what Aaron will choose to sing. Anyways, I decided to post today to share some of the Idol blogs and news I read and videos I watch during the week.

- My favorite Idol video blog is Idol Soul on youtube. It is made by Mollie Evans and I find her to be entertaining and honest and I usually agree with her opinions. She usually posts 2 videos a week, one after each episode of Idol. The video's are something to subside your 'Idol' craving during the 5 days it isn't on TV. Here's one of her videos:

- Next up is a very informative blog all about American Idol and it's contestants. It is called MJ's Big Blog. I follow this guy on Twitter(@mjsbigblog) for constant updates, it is a very informative site for all things "Idol" so check it out if you're interested!

- Finally, my favorite weekly Idol fix comes from EW.com and their head American Idol critic/writer/reviewer, Michael Slezak and the weekly "Idolatry" videos. Slezak's recaps are always brutally honest and hilarious, and he's a guy that really knows what he is talking about. And as for the "Idolatry" videos, they are sometimes better than the actual American Idol performance shows. Click on this link for this week's Idolatry: Awesomeness (embedding is disabled btw.)

Oh and one last thing, I read this article in USA Today:
The doomsday scenario: How Tim Urban wins 'American Idol'
It horrified me by detailing how Tim Urban could be the eventual Idol Champion of 2010. It makes some scarily realistic points, we need to make sure that this does not happen. Anyways, that's it for today, leave any comments or suggestions below and see you back here tomorrow or early Wednesday for the recap!

American Idol Top 10 Revealed

Another Wednesday, another Idol results show. We had a couple of performances from the Disney All-Stars, a top 11 group performance of a Wham! song, and we had another awesome bottom 3: Paige, Tim, and Katie. I think Andrew probably should have took Katie's place but whatever, at least she was sent to safety first, leaving Paige and Tim to stand awkwardly and bask in their awfulness. And the loser was...

Paige Miles

Unsurprisingly, Paige "I love to color" Miles was eliminated from the competition last night, leaving one of the least exciting Top 10's ever. At least we have Mamasox to justify purchasing tickets for the tour. The top 10, who will be singing "R&B Classics" with Usher next week are:

Lee Dewyze
Casey James
Siobhan Magnus
Katie Stevens
Aaron Kelly
Michael Lynche
Tim Urban
Didi Benami
Andrew Garcia
Crystal Bowersox

The list of the songs they have to choose from is up on iTunes if you'd like to view it! Do you like this top 10? Do you think 2 girls would have went first if Katelyn and Lilly made it through? Post any thoughts and comments below and check back here for any Idol updates!

American Idol Recap: Soul Sucking with Miley Cyrus

The top 11 American Idol contestants performed tonight, and boy was it a trainwreck. It was Billboard No.1 Hits this week and some of the worst, overused, boring, cheesy songs were picked. From "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" to "Against All Odds", what were these people thinking??

The show started off with the usual judge's chatter, with Randy reminding us that this week is very important because whoever leaves won't get to be on the tour. That sounds more like a prize to me, the tour is going to be a pitchy mess of cliche, cheese, and horror, I would be dreading it. Anyway, after that information we were introduced to contestants and then showed video of some music chart guru, Fred Bronson, explaining a little about the theme this week. Next we got to see the contestants waiting for their surprise mentor, I bet more than a few had to suppress a laugh when they saw Miley walk into the room. Miley mumbled her way through something, I wasn't really listening. Now we get to the performances, first up was Lee Dewyze.

Lee Dewyze – “The Letter” by the Boxtops
Lee seemed like he tried to change it up tonight, he at least had some stage presence, but it was a little weird for me though. He was still rocking, but I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it and I have never heard of the song before. I still like the rocker tone and vibe to his voice, really reminds me of a 90's rock band lead singer. I agreed with Simon when he said "I’m really surprised you chose that song, that was you doing something quite corny. that doesn’t define you as a contemporary recording artist."

Paige Miles – “Against All Odds” by Phil Collins
Paige, Paige, Paige! This was worse than her "Smile" cover I think. I really liked parts of her performance last week, but this week was just awful, everything was off. Randy said, “Yo WOW. Really honestly? That was honestly terrible. There was nothing about it that was great.” I think she will probably go home tomorrow since I'm sure Tim won't, even though he definitely deserves to.

Tim Urban – “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen
Tim covering Queen should be like against Idol Law or something, it was completely a Karaoke-level performance. The only interesting part was when he did a little slide on stage, but that is really no redeeming quality, at least he is kind of pretty? Ellen said "It was corny, it was pushed too hard…I didn’t get it.”

Aaron Kelly – “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith
Aaron was up next with another overexposed Idol song. He apparently has laryngitis and tonsillitis this week, so he might sound bad. His performance was alright, he seems to be getting more confident, the vocals were a little week but I guess that can be blamed on the sickness. I think it's cute that my little 9 year old sister LOVES Aaron, I'm sure a lot of kids do, Ryan hit the nail on the head when he jokingly said “If you want to vote for David Archleta here”.

Crystal Bowersox – “Me and Bobby McGee” by Janis Joplin
Mamasox was next! She surprisingly let Miley sign her guitar, which I thought was nice of her(nice of Crystal not Miley). I feel Crystal is truly the best in this competition, I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise, especially judging on tonight. I got goosebumps during her performance tonight, during the last half of the song, she is just so authentic and professional and in tune! She could change it up a bit though, stop standing behind the mic stand and a guitar every week, which she probably will not do next week since she said she has some "big plans for next week".

Michael Lynche – “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge
Mike did a good job tonight, albeit an old-fashioned job. He really has some pretty and soft vocals, he used his falsetto well tonight. I think he is a cool guy who can sing well and does cheesy performances, but he never really excites me or has me wanting more. I agreed with Kara when she said “Technically it was really good, it was a bit boring and loungy at times, indulgent, too many riffs."

Andrew Garcia – “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye
Andrew has just totally crashed and burned since Hollywood week. Week after week he is just mediocre and terrible and sometimes creepy. Simon was 100% correct when he said “Maybe we just overrated that moment at that time.”(Referring to "Straight Up") “The arrangement was horrific, you sucked the soul out of that song. You made yourself really really corny."

Katie Stevens – “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Fergie
Katie did a young, new song this week...and she still sucked. It wasn't her worst week, I guess better than last week, but I don't know, she is just really pitchy and boring, I'm positive she will make the tour though.

Casey James – “Power of Love” by Huey Lewis
Casey picked an unexpected and odd song choice, the song from Back to the Future. He sounded good though and he is probably the best guitar player this year. I liked this performance, didn't love it, but overall it was entertaining. Simon said, “That song was old fashioned, he didn’t make it current, it was like listening to an 80’s cover band." I don't think it was old fashioned but the 80's cover band comment made sense, either way I think Casey sounds current and could be on the radio.

Didi Benami – “You’re No Good” by Linda Ronstadt
Didi took a risk tonight, she changed the arrangement of the song, she was trying to be all sexy and slinky on stage. I thought it was a nice performance, some pitch problems, but not bad. The judge's didn't seem to like it, Ellen said, “I don’t get the song choices tonight. I do love your voice, I didn’t get that.” And Kara said “It felt like you were playing a character, it didn’t feel like it was you, it left me confused.”

Siobhan Magnus – “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder
Siobhan, rocking the Sanjaya faux-hawk, was as entertaining as usual. She has powerful vocals and a unique yet soulful voice. She did her usual end-song yell/screech/Adam Lambert mating call, it wasn't as good as last week, but I admit I was looking forward to hearing it. Simon said "Those big notes are indulgent. I didn’t like it tonight.” Maybe he's right, I still like them though.

Well that's a wrap for the recap! What did you think of this week? I felt it was pretty average and boring and just bad. I think many of the contestants in the top 11 don't deserve to be there. Anyway, leave comments, I'll post a recap of the results tomorrow night!

American Idol Results Show: Blah Blah Blah

{SPOILERS!} Be warned.

Tonight was the Idol results show and it played out exactly as it seemed every Idol blogger, including me, expected it to. Let's start from the top.

To start the show, we had this overlong, overdramatic, time filler listing all the contestants and Ryan telling us someone is going home...duh. After that, Idol alum and previous winner David Cook took the stage to do a solid rockin cover of the Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" followed by commercial #1. After the break we got to hear about the "Judge's Save" and then see the surprisingly not-too-corny Idol Ford music video sans Casey James(because he had the flu) followed by even more Ford promotional push with the contestants being forced to design their own custom Ford Fiestas. After being force fed all the Ford nonsense we finally got to some results.

One side of the stage there was contestants, the other side of the stage held Dr. Doom's three silver stools of um doom. Paige Miles was the first to be sent over, which was kind of surprising, I thought she did alright last night, especially considering her laryngitis, but she was in the bottom 3. Next we had safe Lee, safe Siobhan, safe Aaron, then Andrew and Tim, both deserved to be in the bottom 3, but only one got sent over, and it was... Tim Urban! Yes! Please go away.

After the first part of the results we had commercial #7 followed by a performance by Michael Jackson's "This Is It" tour's singer/guitarist, Orianthi. She didn't sound bad, she played the guitar quite well, I have never heard the song before though. After her performance we got to view commercial #13.

After the break was more results: Didi, safe, Crystal, safe, Mike Lynche, safe, Katie...safe(really?), which left Casey and Lacey to stand up and it is obvious Casey isn't going anywhere... and Lacey Brown gets sent to death row along with Tim and Paige. They are all standing in the middle of the room when Ryan tells them that one of them is safe, and it's....Tim Urban!? Ugh. A shocked Tim goes and sits back down, looking like a stoner who realized he forgot to put on his pants, leaving poor Lacey and Paige left standing. Commercial #23.

After the commercial we got to hear from Ms. Blah Blah Blah herself, Ke$ha. To my total surprise she DID NOT lip sync. She sounded dreadful but at least she knows how to have (trashy)fun on stage. Oh and there was a cameo by 3!OH3! or whatever. Commercial #37.

Finally, the results we've been waiting all night for... Lacey Brown will be going home tonight, but first she must perform and the judge's must pretend that they are seriously deliberating whether or not to use the save. Lacey performed a sad, quivery version of "The Story" while the judges huddled and discussed what they ate today. Simon says they unanimously decided not to use the save, shocker. Enter video montage and tears.

Well that's what happened tonight, thoughts? I am personally a little sad for Lacey, I think she deserved to make the top 10 and Tim and Katie should have went first. I think Lacey just got lost in the crowd, she performed in the middle of the show, an average performance, nothing to talk about, she was forgotten. They didn't tell us what the theme will be for next week, I think I read it will be revealed on iTunes, so I'll make a post when I see it! In the mean time, have a good rest of the week and leave comments!

American Idol Top 12 Recap: Rolling Stones Week

The big race for the title of America's Next Top Idol finally got underway tonight, the top 12 performed songs from the Rolling Stones catalog and surprisingly it was not the total trainwreck I was expecting. Clearly there are some front-runners, as well as some bottom feeders, but tonight really just seemed like a big warm-up, everyone sticking a toe in the water of the big 'Idol' stage, giving us a taste of what is to come and preview of the raging battle for 10th through 5th place. Let's get to recapping shall we?:

Michael Lynche: “Miss You”
Big Mike started out the night with "Miss You". It was a decent vocal, not very memorable, but he is a likable guy and it is not like when you see him you think "I bet he could kill a Rolling Stones cover" he did as good as can be expected in my opinion, he is one of the best male vocalists we have this year, which is kind of sad.

Didi Benami: “Play With Fire”
Next up was Didi Benami, who was clearly a little nervous. Poor girl was shaking like a chihuahua up on the big stage but I feel she gave a good performance. Her vocals were intense and emotional to me, and I agree with Simon, "Not brilliant, but solid."

Casey James: “It’s All Over Now”
Casey was third up to bat and he did something besides look cute! I felt he did a song that totally worked for him and the vocals weren't bad at all, the guitar playing was good, he was giving off the country rocker vibe, it was decent. I actually laughed at Ellen's joking critique: "Most women, their hearts are going to start racing just looking at you, right? Then for people like me…" then followed up a few seconds later with "blondes."

Lacey Brown: “Ruby Tuesday”
I am still favoring Lacey over the other 2 bottom females, Katie and Paige, but she obviously isn't the best vocalist in the competition, but at least she knows what her style is, as she showed last week with "The Story", which I loved. I wasn't as moved by her performance this week, it seemed like a more average performance, not very memorable. I liked it, didn't love it. I think she could go home this week, along with 3 or 4 other possibilities, hopefully she gets to stay until the top 10, I'd rather see her on tour than Katie.

Andrew Garcia: “Gimme Shelter”
Andrew Garcia has just crashed and burned ever since the top 24. I feel like his performances have ranged from weird to creepy to just blah. Tonight was blah. He just has mediocre vocals and makes me think that his dad's visions of his son's future as a custodian were not far off. The most interesting part of Andrew's time on stage was Simon making a jab at Kara's "lack of the Stones' anger" critique: "What was he supposed to do, come out in a tank?" he asked.

Katie Stevens: “Wild Horses”
Katie gave a performance worthy of the "Jasmine Murray 12th place ribbon" prize this week. It was totally just blah for me and I just don't think she should have made the top 12. Lilly Scott or Katelyn Epperly would have been far more interesting and entertaining. Wouldn't be surprised to see Katie going home tonight.

Tim Urban: “Under My Thumb”
Back to back mediocre performances for the iCarly set, Katie and Tim, ugh. Tim's Hawaiian punch to "Under My Thumb" was just not very good. I think he was trying to get a Jason Castro vibe going, but it just didn't work. He will stay in the competition though, judging by Twitter anyway. He was a trending topic last night for awhile and sadly, I saw so many teen girls saying how much they love him and how "hawt" he is. Also, he is the "Vote for the Worst" pick, so as horrible as this sounds, I could see Tim going as far 6th place.

Siobhan Magnus: “Paint It Black”
Many comparisons to Adam Lambert are being made after Siobhan's performance of "Paint It Black" last night, and I can see where they are coming from, but I feel like they are totally different artists. Sure, they are both unique and "weird" and can really hit those glory notes, screams, and screeches, but I feel where Adam came on to the show with a whole lotta experience(like the Broadway stage), Siobhan is still rather new at this. Which isn't really a bad thing. She has a great, natural, raw talent, a killer voice, and we will get a deeper connection with her as she gains experience on the 'Idol' stage. And like Ellen said "Like Snooki's poof, you just stand out!"

Lee Dewyze: “Beast of Burden”
Finally Lee sang a song that I didn't absolutely loathe! And he sang it well in my opinion. Lee has such a distinct, alternative rock voice and I could definitely hear him on the radio like right now. However, I feel he is destined for the Chris Daughtry 4th place finish, which isn't such a bad thing really.

Paige Miles: “Honky Tonk Women”
Paige was kinda alright this week actually. She had a few raspy and pitchy problems, but she also had some rather good qualities too. She did have laryngitis or whatever, so she gets props from me this week for delivering my favorite performance from her so far.

Aaron Kelly: “Angie”
Another surprisingly alright performance. Aaron did "Angie" justice and didn't even make me cringe once. I thought he performed the song really well and I agree with Simon when said that Aaron "chose absolutely, 100 percent the right song."

Crystal Bowersox: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
Mamasox got the pimp spot, again, and deservedly so. When Crystal is on stage and holding her guitar, ready to sing, it feels like a different show is about to start, like a stage at the or something. She constantly delivers great performances and I still feel she is the one to beat this year.

So that was your top 12 America, did you like it? Who deserves to go home? Tune in tonight to see the performance packed results show, Ke$ha, David Cook, and Orianthi are all performing tonight, and come back here tomorrow for the recap!

Pics from the Idol Top 12 Party

Here are some pictures from Ellen's website from the Idol top 12 party at Industry on Thursday, March 11 in Hollywood, CA.

At least they look like they are having fun! Hopefully they can all deliver some seriously talented performances come Tuesday to make up for the travesty of Thursday's results.

Worst Case Scenario American Idol Flop 12 Revealed

OMG okay....I don't know what I just witnessed, it was like a bad nightmare in a world purged of creativity, uniqueness, charm and vocal skills. Tonight's top 12 revealing just made me scream UGH OMG NO WHY?! and that is what I'm still thinking now. I can't believe Tim "Zac Efron wannabe" Urban, Paige "I love to color" Miles, and Aaron "pitchy keen" Kelly, and Katie "Who am I? A boring mediocre singer" Stevens made it into the top 12 over the Katelyn, Lilly, and Alex. It is literally a travesty. To quote American Idol's arch-nemesis "Vote for the Worst"'s Twitter account: "Katie made it in the top 12 over Lilly. Hilarious! This seriously is the season of VFTW." Oh and this: "Paige and Tim VICTORY! We actually got 2 people into the top 12. So we get our choice of picks next week! Bring the suck, you two." Are people actually voting for the worst this season?

Don't get me wrong though, I am very happy for Crystal, Didi, Siobhan, Big Mike, and even Lee, although I hate his song choices. But as of right now, the suck outweighs the talent. Here is the list of this year's top 12 contenders and who was eliminated:

Top 12

* Didi Benami
* Siobhan Magnus
* Paige Miles
* Casey James
* Tim Urban
* Lee Dewyze
* Crystal Bowersox
* Michael Lynche
* Lacey Brown
* Aaron Kelly
* Andrew Garcia
* Katie Stevens

Eliminated

* Katelyn Epperly
* Todrick Hall
* Alex Lambert
* Lilly Scott

So disappointing. The bright side is...we will have long forgotten the likes of Paige Miles, Tim Urban, and Aaron Kelly in 6 months time.

'Idol' Guys Night Recap: Rubbin' Me the Wrong Way

How the mighty have fallen! At least in the guy's group. Last night the performances ranged from atrocious to mediocre, with the exception of Big Mike Lynche, who did a rather stellar job. At least the night didn't feel as rushed as girl's night, however, in an evening full of pitchtacular vocals, drive-by hugs from Ellen, Randy name dropping, and Kara's tears, I kind of wish it would have been more rushed. Let's get to the recap'n:

Lee Dewyze: Owl City’s “Fireflies”
Ok, Lee has ok vocals, he is a rocker, he has the David Cook thing going for him, however; I absolutely have hated all of his song choices! Fireflies? Really? and don't even get me started on Hinder. *cringe* He'll definitely make it into the top 12, I hope he starts picking better songs, Matchbox Twenty, Kings of Leon, or even The Script.

Alex Lambert
: Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble”
Alex has a great voice when he sings well, he did an alright job tonight, I think it is enough for him to make it into the top 12, I just wish he would lose the mullet though, which was in full effect tonight.

Tim Urban: Leonard Cohen’s, Jeff Buckley's “Hallelujah”
I was so, so, so, so sure Tim Urban would be leaving this Thursday...until he did this song and he actually sang it well, a million times better than his other performances and I think he deserved that hug from Ellen. Plus everyone loves the song, it is such an emotional song that really connects with people, Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris recently did it for the Haiti benefit and it was a top single on iTunes for awhile, so the youth nation really digs it. So that, along with a finally good performance, Tim could actually be safe from elimination.

Andrew Garcia
: Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle”
When I heard Andrew was doing "Genie in a Bottle" my first thoughts were this will either be another "Straight Up" or it will be a disaster. It was a disaster. It was just weird and made me feel dirty and his singing wasn't that great, his voice is good but this performance was just... not, it rubbed me the wrong way, if you will. Andrew could be going home tonight, it wouldn't surprise me.

Casey James: Keith Urban’s “You’ll Think of Me”
I actually agree with Randy when he said that Casey was playing it really, really safe. It was a good performance to me, it was the right song, Casey just played it safe, kind of like Katelyn Epperly on Tuesday, he will make it through to the top 12 though, all the lusting cougars speed dialing for this one.

Aaron Kelly
: Lonestar’s “I’m Already There”
Aaron is a cute kid, a sweet kid, he has a good voice...sometimes. Tonight he hit the right note about every 10 notes, it was all kinds of pitchy to me. He seems like a nice guy and an okay singer, I just have no interest in him.

Todrick Hall
: Queen’s “Somebody to Love”
The first thing that came to mind when I heard he was singing this song was Glee. And of course, Glee did it better, but Todrick did an admirable job. He relied a little too much on the back-up singers vocals to carry him through I think. I don't remember the other 2 songs he sang so I'll just say this was his best performance so far on the live shows.

Michael Lynche: Kate Bush’s, Maxwell's “This Woman’s Work”
Big Mike really killed it last night, I thought he did a terrific job of singing this song and performing the song and just being an overall entertainer. It was his most emotional performance to date and while I don't think it was tear-inducing, Kara, I do think it was worthy of a spot in the top 12.

What did you think of guy's night? Who's going home? I think it is a big toss-up, any of them could be going home except Casey and Big Mike. I feel the same way about the girls too, the worst gave redeeming performances, so it's hard to tell who is going to go home. My predictions are Aaron and Andrew or Todrick for the guys...and Paige and Lacey for the girls, even though I really loved Lacey's performance Tuesday, and I'm hoping Katie goes instead.

American Idol Top 8 Ladies Night Recap

Last night's episode of American Idol reminded me of an old Paula Abdul song called "Rush, Rush" It seemed like the whole show was just a whirlwind. The producers really had to rush everything along to finish within the hour, it may have hindered some of the girl's performances, but lets not Paige Miles any more excuses than she already has up her sleeve(like Michael Jackson's death perhaps?). Despite the rushing, I did enjoy most of last night and a couple of people surprised me. Let's start the performance recaps shall we?:

Katie Stevens: Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway”
Ugh, another ho-hum blah performance of blandness from Katie Stevens. Katie started out as the producers pet but I think even they have grown bored with her. I kinda hope she goes home Thursday but I can see the tween fan base keeping her on just because of her age and they can "relate" to her or some nonsense.

Siobhan Magnus: The Animals’ “House of the Rising Sun”
Siobhan was great last night, as usual. She was more serious tonight, I felt she gave us a real emotional performance because it was for her dad and it felt authentic. I'm loving her unique and powerful vocals, the acapella at the start was wonderful and haunting. At this moment, Siobhan is one of my favorites and I hope she can make it far.

Lacey Brown: Brandi Carlile’s “The Story”
Finally! A performance I really loved from Lacey. Well actually, this is the first one I've really liked at all. I thought this song was perfect for her, it felt so genuine and I loved how she sang and how she can make her voice go up and down like that. I thought it was really good and I would download the single if it was on iTunes.

Katelyn Epperly: Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move”
I really like Katelyn but I don't know, her performance seemed phoned in, or as Kara said she was "just going through the motions." It just wasn't a good song choice or very memorable. Last week it looked like she was a lock for the top 12 but now, I'm not sure, I'd like to still think she is but there's a chance she won't make it after last nights forgettable performance.

Didi Benami: Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon”
Yay Didi! Another surprisingly good performance after two weeks of not-so-good performances. Didi finally got her guitar back out, like she did in the Hollywood rounds when she sang "Terrified", and it was great. Didi and Lacey both gave surprisingly beautiful and in-tune! performances last night and I think it will really shake things up Thursday.

Paige Miles: Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile”
Paige was horrible last night, her quavering vocals just annoyed me. She did so bad she got the Vote for the Worst crew backing her now...which I really hope doesn't get her a top 12 ticket. Randy's comment about the waiter asking if he would like "chicken, beef, or shrimp" made me LOL. In my opinion Paige has been mediocre since the start of the top 24...and also using the death of Michael Jackson as an excuse for your shiteous vocals is kind of sad, in a Lindsay Lohan kind of way.

Crystal Bowersox: Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason”
In more Randy-speak, Crystal blew it out da box this week yo! I thought she did a fantastic job, it was so good, I got chills, I kind of even think it was better than the original. I agree with Simon that there is no way she is not in the top 12, however I think he should tone down the praise...he even pimped her out on Leno Tuesday night. Hopefully people won't think she is 100% safe and not vote for her or even people might feel she is being shoved down our throats, like were being told who's the best and what we should like, and people don't like that and they will rebel. Simon just needs to let her music speak for itself, we can hear who the best is, he doesn't need to tell us every chance he gets.

Lilly Scott: Patsy Cline’s “I Fall to Pieces”
I love Patsy Cline and I thought Lilly did an admirable job. Sure it wasn't the best, it was kind of an average performance for me but I still liked it, I like her. The problem I have with Lilly though is that she hasn't really done anything too exciting for me, she's just been a stable, yet quirky performer and at this rate I see her leaving the show around 7th or 6th place, at best.

So who is your favorite and who do you think should go home? I think it will be a tough decision come Thursday, hopefully there are no shockers and the right people go home, but after last night you never know. The top 8 boys perform tonight, at 9pm est on FOX, I'll post my boys recap sometime late tonight or tomorrow morning!

TV Headlines: Vampire Diaries, DTWS, and Big Bang

A few TV headlines for today:

- Dancing with the Stars' Tom Bergeron finally has a new 'Dancing' partner. Brooke Burke, the season 7 winner of the hit reality show, will take over co-hosting duties following the recent departure of Samantha Harris. The 38-year-old former model beat out the likes of Vanessa Minnillo and Melissa Rycroft for the gig. Season 10 of Dancing With the Stars kicks off on Monday, March 22, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

- Big Bang Theory is in talks to get a very big guest star to trek their way on to the set. Executive producer Bill Prady says the hit sitcom will likely approach the Star Trek legend, Leonard Nimoy, about making a cameo. Nimoy declined an invitation to appear on Big Bang back in season 2, although the 78-year-old has since returned to television with a recurring gig on Fringe. When Sheldon met Spock could happen as early as the beginning of next season.

- And finally, The O.C. milf, Julie Cooper a.k.a. Melinda Clarke will be guest starring on The CW's hit vampire show, The Vampire Diaries. She will be playing Matt’s hard-partying, absentee mother, Kelly, on the March 25th episode and word is she gets into some "hardcore flirtin' and sexin'" with bloodsucking hottie Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

List of Oscar Winners

Oscar reactions: Well...I got the obvious choices right... I'm very happy Sandra won and I loved her acceptance speech. I'm sad Avatar lost. That show was ridiculously long. Why was Farrah Fawcett left off the memoriam? James Cameron's wife needs to eat and he's probably going home to hug his Titanic Oscars. Tom Hanks should have handed out all the awards. Sandra Bullock wins 2 Razzie Awards!

For those of you that do not know, a Razzie award is an award for the worst in Hollywood and they are always handed out the night before the Oscars. Sandra Bullock won 2 tonight for All About Steve! And she attended the ceremony to collect her awards and hand out some free All About Steve DVDs lol. What a gracious winner! If she wins the Academy Award tomorrow night, she will be there first person ever to win a Razzie then an Academy Award at the same time. Here's a video of Sandra at the Razzies:

You can visit http://www.razzies.com/ for a full list of winners.

Who's Excited for Oscar Weekend?!

It's that time of the year again, time for the Oscars, where the best movies of the past year compete for a little golden man trophy! This year there are some interesting nominees and some close races, plus the Best Picture category was extended from 5 nominees to 10 this year for the first time since 1943. I'm going to list the 6 main categories and my predictions for who is going to win below.

Best Picture
:
Avatar - My pick
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

I'm rooting for Avatar to win the main prize for sure. Not only is it the highest grossing movie of all time at the box office, it is also the most visually stunning and the most entertaining, fun, and memorable movie I've saw in years. Sure The Hurt Locker is also a great movie and in a year without Avatar, I would say it was going to win 100%, but in my opinion Avatar > all the other nominees.

Best Actor:
Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart - My pick
George Clooney, Up in the Air
Colin Firth, A Single Man
Morgan Freeman, Invictus
Jeremy Renner, The Hurt Locker

All signs point to Jeff Bridges winning this one. George was great in Up in the Air but I don't know, it seemed like such an effortless performance. Jeremy gave a gripping performance in The Hurt Locker but it doesn't have the heart that Jeff Bridges performance does. Jeff Bridges gives an authentic, emotional, and he totally brings this tragic alcoholic into reality.

Best Actress:
Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Helen Mirren, The Last Station
Carey Mulligan, An Education
Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia - My pick

I feel this is a tight race and everyone nominated deserves it, but we all know the race is truly only between Sandra and Meryl. I love both of these actresses and in fact they are my two current favorite actresses. Meryl is like the definition of Oscar, having been nominated a record 16 times, having won only 2 though and she hasn't taken one home since 1983. Sandra is a veteran actress who has always been more of a crowd-pleaser actress; she has done a lot of commercial fare(such as Miss Congeniality and Speed) and this is her first nomination. Honestly, I want Sandra to win, I would love to see her win, she has always been one of my favorite actresses, but I have this feeling Meryl is going to finally take home another Oscar, which isn't a bad thing and I'll be happy if Meryl wins too, but I'd rather see Sandra take it, I just feel like Meryl will, so she is my pick for the win.

Best Supporting Actor:
Matt Damon, Invictus
Woody Harrelson, The Messenger
Christopher Plummer, The Last Station
Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds - My pick

Best Supporting Actress:
Penélope Cruz, Nine
Vera Farmiga, Up in the Air
Maggie Gyllenhaal, Crazy Heart
Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air
Mo’Nique, Precious - My pick

This year the supporting actor/actresses races are over before they even really began. We all know who is going to win both of these categories because the two clear front-runners gave such gripping, mesmerizing, fantastic performances. Christoph Waltz and Mo'Nique are of course who I am talking about. Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds, is so good it scares me. Every scene he is in, it makes me nervous, I can feel the tension in the room. It was a gripping performance and he totally deserves to win, the same with Mo'Nique. Her performance as Mary Jones in Precious makes me feel the same as Col. Hans Landa. Mo'Nique's performance was undeniably crazy and was transformed into a monster and showed so much emotion. So yeah, these two categories aren't even a race, however I'd like to say I loved Vera and Anna in Up in the Air, especially Vera, my runner-up choice.

Best Director:
Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker - My pick
James Cameron, Avatar
Lee Daniels, Precious
Jason Reitman, Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds

Another tight race, and this time it is between exes. Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron, both great directors, their movies are like total opposites, David vs. Goliath-type thing. Avatar the 700 million dollar+ visually stunning, beautiful, blockbuster vs. the 13 million dollar gritty, indie war action-drama. I want Cameron to win this just because I love Avatar so much and I feel he did a phenomenal job creating this fascinating world, but I think Kathryn will probably win. Not only will she be the first female director winner, but she has swept almost all the pre-oscar award races, plus much of Hollywood think James Cameron is an egotistical prick. I want Cameron to win, but Bigelow is my pick for who is going to win.

Well that's the six main Oscar categories. Agree or disagree with my picks? It is going to be an interesting Oscar night either way, be sure to tune on Sunday @8:30PM EST on ABC for the telecast!

Youtube's Closed Captions..

Youtube now has the option to turn on closed-captions (for the hearing impaired) on some of its videos, and it is unintentionally hilarious. I feel sorry for deaf people who actually need to use this feature, they must get very confused or think they're on an acid trip. Here are just a few of the gems I found:

American Idol down to 'Sweet 16'

American Idol results shows are always like 75% time-filler and 25% sending people home, tonight was no different. Tonight opened with an over dramatic, totally pointless clip montage followed by a excruciating group performance of the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling", which at least provided a few laughs, if not anything else.

The boys were the first up tonight with Tim Urban dodging yet another bullet in Superman fashion. The only thing keeping him in this competition is tween girls and his abs, and maybe Vote for the Worst. Luckily there were at least 3 other guys who were worthy of going home this week, so it is okay to delay the inevitable with Tim until next week. The not so lucky guys that didn't survive the night were John Park and Jermaine Sellers, thank you America. I haven't liked Jermaine ever, he was over-confident, annoying, and needed to be brought back down to Earth. John was alright at his audition but hasn't wowed me since then, it was his time to go.

After a bland performance from my least favorite contestant of last year, Danny Gokey, the girls had their fates dealt to them. Michelle Delamor was sent packing first. I kind of felt sorry for Michelle, how could she not know that everyone hates Creed? She wasn't that bad, and there were more deserving of the walk of shame, but I feel even if she made it top top 12 I don't think she would have made it past the top 8. Next up, Haeley Vaughn and Lacey Brown were brought center stage to both be told they were going home this week and they would never be allowed to sing again. If only. In reality, just Haeley was sent home, another right choice by America! Lacey better pack her bags for next week though. I hate how the producers make the losers sing before they leave, I mean its just not a very good idea. Why would the contestants want to sing the song that got them sent home before they leave? And why would America want to hear it? At the end of the show when Haeley was forced to re-sing "The Climb" it was like the slaughter of the lambs, I just turned off my TV so I hope I didn't miss anything.

Anyways, are you happy with who got sent home? I am very happy with the results, America got 3/4 right this week, hopefully Tim and Lacey meet their makers next week. Leave comments below~

Lady Gaga could duet with Britney

Wouldn't this just be a gay glitter dream wrapped in a Adam Lambert's scrotum! Apparently, Lady Gaga’s father arranged for her to duet with Spears while she was in the bathroom at the Grammy Awards. And thanks to that conversation, we may soon be hearing these two pop divas collide as soon as Lady’s Monster Ball tour wraps up. Gaga originally penned the song “Telephone” for Spears but she never used it on an album so Beyonce and Lady Gaga released it on their own. Speaking of "Telephone" Gaga just tweeted:

So I assume the video will be released very soon. I'm looking forward to it, "Bad Romance" was amazing.

American Idol Top 10 Girls Recap: "Some Marked... Some Horrific"

Finally! For the first night this season I actually enjoyed at least half of the performances, it felt like normal Idol and not like I was being fed the musical equivalent of fruit cake. The night started off with the conclusion of the Crystal Bowersox "medical issue", that I think FOX milked for all it was worth. She seemed a little pale but she was there to perform and she started off the night.

Crystal Bowersox: Surprisingly Crystal went first tonight, I figured she would be last to keep viewers glued to their seats. Crystal sang "Long As I Can See The Light" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and sounded better than ever. Ellen said she had "raw natural talent" and Simon said he saw her as a "really serious artist" now.

Haeley Vaughn: Haeley, doing her best to keep her VFTW title, did Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" It was better than last week I think, but that isn't saying much. She can caterwaul as good as Miley at least. The judges comments were all pretty much bad. Simon called it a "complete and utter mess."

Lacey Brown: Lacey did a thousand times better this week with Sixpence Non the Richer's "Kiss Me" than she did last week with her atrocious version of "Landslide", but it still wasn't that great. It was decent, a little off key, a little drunken karaoke-ish. Kara said it was a "step in the right direction" which I agree with.

Katie Stevens: Ok let me start out by saying I think Katie has a good voice, however, she is picking the wrong songs and she is seeming...I don't know, kind of out-dated I guess. Katie did Corrine Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On". It's a newer song but it still just doesn't seem to fit very well with Katie. It was kind of a boring performance and it seemed like she was trying really hard to be all sultry. The judges kept bringing up her age and talked about it a lot, telling her to sing a song by an artist under 20...which I think is terrible advice. "Age ain't nothin but a number" and most songs by the under 20 set are total crap.

Didi Benami: I love Didi because of her "meowing" I meow a lot myself. Yes, really. Anyways, Didi did Bill Withers "Lean on Me" which I feel was a wrong song choice and a boring one. She sang it pretty well in my opinion but the judges didn't seem to like it at all. Simon called it a "wasted opportunity" and Didi was on the verge of tears. I think she is safe for next week though, I'd be shocked if she went home.

Michelle Delamor: Ugh. I hate Creed. Michelle did Creed's "With Arms Wide Open" and it made me yawn. It was pitchy and just didn't seem to suit her. I loved her dress tho and so did the judges. Kara actually liked the performance saying "I bought it, I bought you" but no. Michelle is a pretty girl with an okay voice, she will probably make it another week.

Lilly Scott
: Lilly seems like a very soulful and unique person, she's different and I like it. She sang Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come" and it was a passionate performance, it wasn't perfect but it was good. Simon said Lilly and Crystal were the same kind of singer and that he thought Crystal was better, which is true.

Katelyn Epperly: Katelyn sang an unexpected song, she did Coldplay's "The Scientist" which is one of my favorite Coldplay songs. Katelyn's version was kind of beautiful and haunting in a way, but she slowed it down so much.. I will say she has a nice voice and a nice look thought, just wish she didn't do such a slow version, I definitely think she deserves a spot in the top 12 now though.

Paige Miles: While more pleasant than last week, Paige was still a little bland to me. She did Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away" which Kara wrote by the way, incase you missed Kara talking about it for 5 minutes. Simon said Paige "Gets lost in the songs" and I agree again, Paige just doesn't seem to memorable to me, I think she could be going home.

Siobhan Magnus: I loved Siobahn's performance tonight, she is so strange and unique. She did Aretha Franklin's "Think" and she did it quite well, it may have been a little pitchy at times but overall I loved it. The high note near the end was great, the judge's loved the high note as well, saying it was "incredible". I think she is a wildly passionate singer and I hope she makes the top 12.

What did you think of the top 10 girls? Much better than the boys right? Who do you think is going home? My guesses are...Paige and Lacey or Haeley for the girls, Jermaine and Todrick or Tim for the guys, the Vote For the Worst and tween crowds could keep Haeley and Tim in though. Oh and did you listen to the judges pile on the support for Crystal at the end of the show, they all basically said she's the current one to beat. Anyways, I'm tired of talking about American Idol for the night, time to watch some Jersey Shore season 1 uncensored on DVD! I wish I was joking.

Wonka candy company launches real-life Golden ticket contest!

When I was a kid I always wished this part of the book would happen in real life. I always thought about finding a golden ticket when I opened any candy bar. Well now it can actually happen with Wonka's promotion for its new candy bars called Wonka Exceptionals. 10 Wonka Exceptional bars across the U.S. will have a golden ticket inside. The prize for finding a golden ticket is a pretty sweet deal, from Wonka's website: "You will get a Trip Around the World: four destinations, three travel companions, and $12,500 to spend as you see fit. We’ll give you a place to stay, you bring the fun. This might just be the grandest prize ever!"

Will you be buying any chocolate bars because of this contest? I'll probably buy a few myself, but I'm not gonna go crazy with it, I hope there are some people like Veruca Salt out there though.

American Idol Top 10 Guys Night Recap

These guys are really the Top 10 guys the judges chose? Really? So far this season of American Idol has been one big yawn fest of mediocracy(Urban Dictionary's definition is quite fitting: A society in which people with little (if any) talent and skill are dominant and highly influential.) I liked maybe 2 or 3 of the guy's performances tonight, the rest all ranged from "just alright for me dawg" to downright terrible. We got off to a strong start to the night, then everything just went downhill from there for the most part.

Michael "Big Mike" Lynche: Big Mike had the misfortune to go first but he upped his game and did considerably better than last week. His soulful teddy bear version of James Brown's "It's a Man's World" was pretty good and got a standing ovation out of Randy. It was my favorite performance of his to date, I think he's a sure bet for the top 12.

John Park: The asian choir boy did his best rendition of John Mayer's "Gravity" that he could muster but it still sounded like a warbling disaster. It was kind of flat and Simon called it a "so what?" performance. John may be in danger this week, although I think there are more worthy contenders for the Idol journey video montage.

Casey James: Is it me or his hair getting blonder, shinier, and more curly each week. The first word that popped in my mind when I saw him tonight was Goldilocks. Anyway, Casey did an okay version of Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Want to Be" and he played an electric guitar while he sang. Unfortunately the guitar playing was better than the vocals but I'm sure he is in no danger of going home. The shocker of the night was Kara actually saying something bad about her object of lust, saying Casey "took two steps back" in her eyes for the mediocre performance.

Alex Lambert: This guy may share the same last name as last season's glam rocker, Adam Lambert, but that is about the only thing they have in common, however, Alex did perform rather well last tonight. He did a version of John Legend's "Everybody Knows" with his guitar and was "a million times better than last week" according to Simon. I thought he was good, he is not my favorite, but he is endearing enough to be in the top 12.

Todrick Hall: Todrick was all over the place again this week. He chose another odd song choice, Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It", and he sang it only so-so, and it sounded a little weird to me. Ellen suggested he dance more, and then Simon suggested he "move but don't sing," which I think is good advice.

Jermaine Sellers: This guy makes me cringe. I don't like him very much and I don't think he should be in the top 20. He did a flat version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?" tonight and for the second week in a row made me hit mute. Please leave Thursday night, how could anyone not related to this guy be voting for him?

Andrew Garcia
: Andrew, Andrew, Andrew. Tonight was another "meh" night for me with Andrew. He did James Morison's "You Give Me Something" and it was just alright. I really enjoyed his version of "Straight Up" but I agree with Kara when she said Andrew set the bar too high at the start and has kept disappointing since then. He needs a snort of fairy dust and a dash of glitter, something to get the magic back or I don't think he'll make it very far past the top 12.

Aaron Kelly: The 16-year-old did the Temptation's "My Girl" and although it was an "old-fashioned arrangement" according to Simon, he still sung it well and will probably be sticking around another week.

Tim Urban: The last minute replacement who totally bombed and took a critical beating last week with One Republic's "Apologize" redeemed himself a little this week with one of my favorite songs, Matt Nathanson's "Come on Get Higher". It wasn't great but it was good, Ellen suggested he tryout for Glee, which I think is kind of a good idea, and Simon actually praised his worth ethic and attitude...if not his voice.

Lee Dewyze
: Closing the night was Lee with an emotionally charged performance of Hinder's "Lips of an Angel". It wasn't too bad, it is not really my cup of tea but he did a good job and is drawing comparisons to David Cook. Simon said something that I don't completely agree with, saying Lee "may be the one to beat" I personally don't think any of the guys deserve that title, but we'll see.

Who was your favorite guy singer? Who do you hope gets shipped off to reality TV obscurity Thursday night? Tomorrow night is the top 10 girls night, hopefully with Crystal Bowersox, who caused the Idol schedule change last night with her "medical emergency" rumored to be diabetes related. I'll post a recap of the ladies' performances along with my predictions of who's going home sometime tomorrow.

American Idol Schedule Change

In a last-minute scheduling change, American Idol’s top 10 males semifinalists will perform on tonight’s live telecast, instead of the season 9 female contestants, “due to medical issues that would prevent Crystal Bowersox from performing,” according to a Fox spokesperson.

Not Bowersox! I hope she is alright, she is one of the few bright spots so far this season. Oh and by the way, while I'm posting this, don't forget to check out the premiere of Parenthood on NBC after Idol! The return of Lorelai Gilmore(Lauren Graham) is a must-see.

Smokey's Island vs. Simon's Swan Song

Another Tuesday night is upon us and that means it is time for more American Idol, which is Simon Cowell's final season, and the final season of Lost!(and in about a month's time, my personal favorite, Glee, will be on Tuesday nights as well.)

The top 10 girls of American Idol will be performing tonight and the top 10 guys tomorrow night. If anyone watched last week's shows, you know that most if not all of the singers delivered less than stellar performances. It was horrible, I cringed at some of the vocals and had to hug my Rainbow Brite doll tight to save me from the likes of Ashley Rodriguez, who America wisely didn't vote for, and Tim Urban, who may look nice shirtless, but sounds worse than me singing Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" on karaoke Wednesday at Mary's Attic. Sadly America voted for him and he will still be singing this week. At least we have Didi Benami & Crystal Bowersox to look forward to!

As for Lost, tonight's episode is titled Sundown. The only synopsis given is "Sayid faces a difficult decision, and Claire sends a warning to the temple inhabitants." So look forward to some revelations on the "is Sayid good or evil?" front and more of this:

Cast of Dancing with the 4.99 DVD Stars Announced!

So it looks like most of the rumors were true about this year's cast. Here's the full roster of mirrorball trophy enthusiasts who will attempt to dance their way out of obscurity and D-listdom:

Buzz Aldrin: He was the second person to set foot on the moon, and now, at 80, he's the oldest man to ever compete on DWTS. Quick somebody call Life Alert.

Pam Anderson: Dancing in slow motion and Baywatch theme ready for action.

Erin Andrews: Had to Google this bitch, apparently she is an ESPN reporter and has had nude pics leaked by a stalker. I'm gay so you can think of the reasons I have never heard of her.

Shannen Doherty: Brenda Walsh. Prue Halliwell. 'Nuff said. This bitch is in it to win it I'm sure, I could totally see her kicking some Gosselin ass.

Kate Gosselin: Infamous fame whore/mother of 8 chia pets. Be on watch for Jon Gosselin to claw his way on to the DWTS stage if this bitch lasts longer than a week.

Evan Lysacek: The hot, Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater is passing on the 2010 World Championship for a shot at the disco ball trophy. Insert gay figure skating joke about balls here.

Niecy Nash: Loved her on Reno 911, better hold on to that weave girl.

Chad Ochocinco: Mmm this yummy chocolate man is a football player for the Cincinatti Bengals and a six-time Pro Bowler. Is 'Ochocinco' really his last name tho? 8 5? Oh I get it, its his dick size 8" by 5".

Jake Pavelka: ABC's current favorite pet. The Bachelorette, The Bachelor, and now this. At least he is kinda cute with his shirt off.

Nicole Scherzinger: I don't know what this doll is doing here, she's basically a professional dancer already. Maybe she needs to feel good about herself because her solo career was a flop and the rest of the Pussycat Dolls hate her.

Aiden Turner: Playing the "hot Soap Opera star" card, will he do Gilles Marini and Cristián de la Fuente proud? If his abs are just as chiseled I think he will do alright.

Well that's all folks! Do you like this year's contestants? I'll be watching for my favorite bitch Brenda, gotta watch out for sabotage from Alyssa Milano though, security better be on their toes.
