American Idol Top 9 Results Recap!

Another Wednesday, another night packed with filler, action, laughs, drama, singing, and of course, promotional tie-ins! Tonight was very tense for me because I was so scared we were going to lose another lady! And as things turned out...I had nothing to worry about..at all.

The results started out with the usual over-dramatic monologue from Ryan followed by a recap of what happened last night, then Ryan said the producers told him the results were "shocking". Uh oh. The recap was followed by a lovely lip synced group performance that I paid absolutely no attention to, then on the Ford music video of the week. Blah Blah Blah. Next, Jason Derulo performed his latest hit "In My Head" then we got down to some results.

All three ladies were sent to the center of the stage and for a minute I was so sure Ryan was going to crush my spirit, my soul, and my heart and say that all three ladies were in the bottom three. Instead, he gave me a joygasm and a smile and announced they were all safe! YES! Maybe Tim will be leaving! Or Andrew! (Remember the "shocking" statement.)

After the 14th commercial break, we came back to David Archuleta singing "Imagine", it was as good as the last time he sang it on the Idol stage back in 2008. After his performance we got more results! The guys were directed by Ryan to form 2 groups on the left and right sides of the stage. Lee, Casey, and ... Tim were put together on the right, Michael, Aaron, and Andrew were put on the left. It's easy to see the shocker now, Big Mike was gonna be in the bottom three. And....yes the left side is your bottom three America.

Aaron was sent to safety first, then we got a commercial, then we got some Rihanna! I was looking forward to Rihanna, I thought she was going to sing "Rude Boy" or "Te Amo"...but no...she "debuted" her new single that I never heard of called "Rockstar 101". It was alright I guess...I think it's going to do about as well as "Russian Roulette" did but whatever, she rocked it out at least. Next was yet another commercial then finally "Dim the lights!" Who's it gonna be? Big Mike or Andrew? The choice is an obvious one, Andrew has delivered more mediocre performances than I care to reminisce about. But of course! The shocker! Big Mike is leaving the competition. Seriously? I was mad about this, Big Mike is so much better than Andrew, Tim, and even Aaron, he actually has a really velvety R&B toned voice and he sings in-tune. Why America?? WHY?! Oh but wait! The judge's save.

Big Mike got the least amount of votes and he had to sing for his life, he had the Idol contestants crying to his left and his wife was bawling like 20 feet in front of from him and he had to win over the judges to get to stay in the competition. My dilemma with this situation is that...if Mike gets saved, that means 2 people will be going home next week, which could either be wonderous or a disaster. What if Crystal and Lee get the lowest votes next week?? But then the other part of me is saying, Big Mike is a good singer, one of the best males, his wife is in tears, he has a newborn, Andrew deserved to go, save Mike! Mike sang "This Woman's Work" while the judges deliberated and I feel it was a fantastic and moving performance and it probably is what really sealed the deal on the judge's decision. They decided to save him, of course!

So to recap my recap! Lots of filler, lots of tears, Kara's discovery, Archie, Rihanna, a shocking result, a judge's save used, 2 people going home next week. How do you feel about this? I'm hoping this is all for the best and any combination of Andrew/Tim/Aaron/Katie go next week. Anyway, I'm out for the night, have a good week and be sure to come back here for any breaking Idol updates and tune in next week another 9 performances with mentor Adam Lambert!
